Back to School Shopping with Walmart

Today’s post is in collaboration with Walmart. All opinions are my own.

Where has summer gone?! It seems like yesterday (I say this ALL of the time) that Reins and Addison just got out of school and we were kicking off summer ’19 with a bang! Now we are just about 16 days away from starting a new school year and our sweet boy is heading into 4th grade (sigh, wipe my tears…my baby is growing up)!

I always feel so sentimental as a new school year approaches. I know all of you Momma’s can relate…the school years just fly by and our littlest ones aren’t so little anymore. Although I’m not ready for school to start back, Reins is super excited for 4th grade and he is looking forward to heading back to school. I’m sooooo thankful that he loves school as much as he does!

We Moms have checklists upon checklists of things to do before school starts back and one thing that is always on our checklists is shopping for new clothes for our child/children. Preparing for back to school can be a bit overwhelming and sometimes financially straining, especially if you have more than one child.

Shopping for new back to school clothes should be a fun thing for you and your child to do together and it doesn’t have to cost a fortune either. That’s why this year, we have shopped at Walmart for many of Reins’ and Addison’s back to school clothes!

Shopping for Reins at Walmart was a lot of fun and we found so many great pieces at such affordable prices. From camo and classic shorts to button down tops, cool t-shirts (how awesome is his “Stay Cool” Wonder Nation tiger tee?!), and great everyday basics…we stocked up on new gear for him…gear that he is happy with and will be excited to wear!

We bought versatile pieces at Walmart that he can mix together…tops and tees that can be worn with all of the shorts and as the weather cools, he can still wear each top with a pair of jeans and a hoodie or sweatshirt.

We love the Wonder Nation and 365 Kids by Garanimals brands at Walmart. The clothes from both brands fit TTS and are great quality pieces. With as tough as kiddos can be on their clothes, its nice to know that with these brands, you are getting pieces that should hold up well to all of the wear and tear of the school year. You can shop these brands and more at your local Walmart store or on Walmart’s website, www.walmart.com.

Going back to school shopping at Walmart is one way to help your child/children prepare for back to school. I’m also sharing a few additional tips to prepare for back to school so you can ensure a great start to the school year.

1) About two weeks before school starts, start getting back into your school year nighttime routines. This typically means adjusting bedtime and making “lights out” much earlier. We all want our kiddos to be well rested for school and this does take bit of time to adjust from carefree summer nights to a more structured nighttime routine.

2) Make a chart of things that your child/children need to do/or remember each morning before heading off to school. This could include simple things like making their beds, brushing their teeth, packing up their backpacks, etc. Having a checklist makes for a much more strafer school morning.

3) Talk with your children about their expectations for the start of a new school year as well as your expectations. Ensure that they understand what the new nighttime and morning routines will be, what time they will be getting up and what time they will leave for school, etc. The more you talk through everything with your child/children, the more confidence they will have and comfort they will find in the much more structured days ahead.

4) Shower them with love and pour on the attention. Enjoy the final days of summer together and be sure to check things off of their summer bucket list. Do something extra special together a couple of days before school starts! Have fun together, encourage your littles, and always be positive when talking about starting back school.

I also asked Reins a few questions about going back to school and I wanted to share them with you! This is something you can do each year as well and record their answers. It’s fun to look back on!
