This Halloween, I was inspired by our love of Star Wars. We started watching Star Wars as a family within the last several years and we’ve been big fans ever since! Some of the most mysterious and intriguing characters are from the Dark Side of the Force so this year, I decided to create a Darth Maul Halloween costume.

Darth Maul…also known as Maul is the son of Dathomir, a powerful Zabrak warrior, a disgraced Sith Lord, a feared criminal Lord and is seeking revenge against Obi-Wan…his arch nemesis.

Becoming Darth Maul was a lot of fun and allowed me to tap into the Dark Side of the Force. Although most days of the year I favor the Light Side of the Force and their hero characters, I like to tap into villainous characters for Halloween. What better way to celebrate spooky season!

For reference, I sourced my costume directly from www.SkyCostume.com. They offer high quality costumes…just be aware that it will take several weeks to arrive to you. I also shared a tutorial of how I did my make-up on Instagram. My colored contacts are from www.ColouredContacts.com.

Be sure to check out last years Captain Jack Sparrow costume and my Maleficent costume the year before. Stay tuned here for more Halloween content this week including some fun celestial cupcakes and a Yoda cocktail!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

Sitting on the front porch, in the evening, during the spring and summer months with a Sweet Tea Sorbet Refresher in hand is one of our favorite things to do as a family. We enjoy every bit of summer daylight that we can squeeze in and then we unwind together by taking a long walk or by sitting on the porch chit chatting and enjoying our refreshers.

I’ll be sharing our Sweet Tea Sorbet Refresher recipe along with some of my favorite new home pieces from Walmart, like these striped tumblers that come as a set of 8 for under $20! They are so cute and perfect for summertime entertaining. Not to mention they are great for using out on your deck or around your pool because they are not glass.

I also picked up this 3 gallon beverage dispenser, under $30, which is made of lightweight BPA free material and is perfect for using when you entertain indoors and out. Fill it with your favorite tea, lemonade, or even your favorite summer sangria!

These Pioneer Woman tea towels are colorful and bold…great to keep by your sink or use when serving food and beverage and I loved this Better Homes and Garden serving tray that is under $10! I’ve also linked up more of my favorite recent Walmart finds below! Walmart has so many great entertaining pieces perfect for family and friend gatherings and home decor that is sure to brighten up your home just in time for summer.

Now on to the simple and delicious Sweet Tea Sorbet Refresher recipe…

SWEET TEA SORBET REFRESHER

INGREDIENTS

  • your favorite sweet tea (store bought or homemade)
  • your favorite flavor of sorbet (we used orange but we also love lemon, strawberry, and raspberry sorbet with our tea refreshers)
  • whipped cream for topping
  • mint sprig for garnish
  • wide boba straw or spoon for enjoying

Scoop your favorite sorbet into your tumblers and and pour your favorite sweet tea over the sorbet. Top with whipped cream and a sprig of mint…serve and ENJOY!!!

Be sure to check out my current favorite Walmart Home finds and try this Sweet Tea Sorbet Refresher recipe…I truly think you will love it as much as we do!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by…see you back here real soon!

Easter is a week away and we are gearing up for a fun week ahead. The kids will be out of school on Good Friday so we are inviting some friends over for a nighttime Easter egg flashlight hunt. We will also be going to church on Sunday and spending time with some our friends then as well.

The weather is going to be absolutely beautiful this Easter week so we are going to be taking full advantage of time together celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

I’m also excited to share this year’s Garden Easter Tablescape with you! I was so inspired by the beautiful daffodils and tulips that have been blooming all around us this early spring, so I decided that this year’s theme should be centered around the rebirth of these flowers, which is also symbolic of the rebirth of Jesus. Not to mention all of the wildlife that we see around our home…we have a family of bunnies that live under our deck yearround and they are now out and about enjoying all the joys of springtime as well!

Our Garden Easter Tablescape features a variety of fresh colorful flowers that make the centerpiece truly standout. After laying down a casual tan and white gingham fabric tablecloth and runner, with a bunny on each end, I laid down 3 faux grass tile pieces that I picked up at Micheal’s. I placed some speckled eggs on top of the grass and then placed a variety of fresh flowers throughout the grass, including some tulips which gave the centerpiece a 3D appearance. The centerpiece wouldn’t be complete without this amazing large grey bunny, which I also found at Michael’s.

I continued to bring the outside in with these large wooden chargers and our rustic flatware. These candlesticks also add a beautiful natural touch to any table setting. I found these modern and simple sage dinner plates at Kirkland’s and these whimsical bunny salad plates at Michael’s.

These adorable bunny pillows and these tulip chair wreaths were the perfect touch tie it all together. I was able to dress our table this year on a budget with some beautiful Easter finds from both Michael’s and Kirklands.

I hope our Garden Easter Tablescape has given you some inspiration to dress your table this Easter! I will be sharing more Easter posts this week including a deviled egg recipe that you don’t want to miss, a delicious strawberry filled cupcake recipe, and a special carrot juice cocktail as well…so stay tuned on and be on the lookout!

The Melting Pot is one of my all time favorite Valentine’s Day date night destinations…we have made many memories there sharing a pot or two of fondue! Of course the icing on the cake is always the chocolate fondue…its the best way to top off a great meal at The Melting Pot.

This Valentine’s Day, I decided to create a Valentine’s chocolate fondue treat board that we can enjoy together as a family. We won’t be going out to dinner this year but we will be staying home, showering one another with love, and enjoying great conversation over a pot of sweet chocolate fondue.

This board was a lot of fun to dream up…anything goes! I started with this adorable heart shaped fondue set which comes with the fondue pot and 6 heart shaped bowls. I then started to layer a variety of sweet treats and fruit to fill up this decadent and delicious sweets board.

Below are the items that I used to create this board…all of which are easy to find at Walmart!

  • iced sugar cookie
  • sprinkle heart shaped sugar cookies
  • heart shaped Little Debbie cakes
  • heart shaped Little Debbie iced brownies
  • sprinkle rice crispy treats
  • chocolate covered heart shaped pretzels
  • Lindor strawberries and cream truffles
  • cotton candy
  • marshmallows (large and small)
  • strawberries
  • blueberries
  • raspberries
  • blackberries
  • bananas

Since Valentine’s Day is on a Sunday this year, this board would be a lot of fun for you to put together for your family, significant other, or for a group of girlfriends! Make sure you have some wine or Prosecco on hand too!

I also shared this Galentine’s Day yogurt parfait bar as well…this would be great for a Valentine’s breakfast or brunch.

As always, thanks so much for stopping by! See you back here real soon!

Like many others, I have a bit of an obsession with Bridgerton…I devoured the entire first season within a matter of a couple of days and was left anxiously awaiting season two. What’s not to love about a period drama series filled with rich stories of passionate love, adoring friendships, and scandalous drama?! PLUS the elaborately gorgeous costumes and picture perfect scenes had me daydreaming of living during that period of time as a member of the Bridgerton family…one can dream right?!

In honor of Bridgerton and Valentine’s Day, I decided to create a Bridgerton inspired Valentine’s Day tablescape fit for high tea with the Queen. This table would be perfect for hosting your girlfriends for a Bridgerton style gossip filled Galentine’s celebration.

To create this themed table, I used soft colors and fabrics including a lace tablecloth and napkins. Floral dishes atop gold trimmed charger plates add a sense of royalty to the table. Be sure to set your table with floral tea cups, bejeweled sugar spoons, a Swarovski coated sugar dish, and crystal parfait bowls. Dress your table with tall white taper candles and an assortment of beautiful flowers, including red roses, to complete your Bridgerton inspired table setting.

Not only is this table setting perfect for a gathering with girlfriends this Valentine’s Day, it is also perfect for other upcoming celebrations like Mother’s Day or even for a small bridal/baby shower.

If you haven’t watched Bridgerton yet, I highly recommend it. It’s such a fun show to watch and get lost in. My guess is, you will find yourself daydreaming as I did and you’ll feel inspired by all things Bridgerton.

As always, thanks so much for stopping by…I’ll be sharing more Valentine’s Day inspiration so I will see you back here real soon!

This Galentine’s Day, put together a delicious and healthy yogurt parfait bar for your girlfriends! Whether you build a board, as I’ve done here, or a full parfait bar, it’s fun and super easy to put together.

I’m going to share what I used for my yogurt parfait bar as well as a few tips! Hope you will plan to have some girlfriends over and do the same…what a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day together.

Here’s what I used for my board along with a few other recommendations:

  • greek vanilla yogurt (you can use any type of yogurt + any flavor that you may like and I encourage you to have a few different options especially if you have any girlfriends who don’t eat dairy)
  • granola (I added two different types of granola to my board…offering a gluten free option would be great)
  • slivered almonds & walnuts (any type of nut will do and having a few different options is nice)
  • golden raisins & dried cranberries
  • strawberries
  • blueberries
  • blackberries
  • raspberries
  • grapes
  • pineapples
  • bananas
  • honey for drizzling
  • various cereals (cinnamon coated cereal, cheerios, honey bunches of oats, rice crispy cereal, etc. would be good options)
  • jams (for something a little sweeter, you can offer various berry jams)

Be sure to cut your strawberries and bananas last so they stay fresh. Bananas brown quickly so those should be the last thing that you cut to place on your board or bar.

I also lined the rims of my parfait glass bowls with crushed graham crackers. To do this, I dipped the rims in a small amount of simple syrup and then dipped the rim into the crushed graham crackers.

Serve your parfaits with a hot kettle of tea or coffee…mimosas will do too! To elevate your offerings, make a breakfast/dessert loaf bread like banana bread or offer mini muffins to your girlfriends as well.

Get creative because anything goes when putting together a yogurt parfait bar! Enjoy for any breakfast or brunch gathering with friends or family…this would be great for a bridal or baby shower as well.

Be sure to check back here soon as I will also be sharing a Valentine’s Day sweets board that you don’t want to miss!

As always, thank you for stopping by…see you back here real soon!

Hope everyone had a beautiful blessed Christmas! We had a wonderful Christmas and we truly enjoyed so much special time together just the four of us. It was magical and we made so many memories that we will cherish forever. I hope your Christmas moments with family were magical as well!

So here we are…those last few days of 2020…I mean, how did that happen so quickly?! We are all eager to welcome 2021 but I will say 2020 was a blessing in so many ways so I am a bit sad to see it go. It is also a time where we all start to evaluate changes or improvements that we want to make at the start of a brand new year. There are many things I want to focus on and manifest in 2021. I’m excited for all that is to come!

It’s also a time where many of us are tired of cooking yet we are meal planning for the New Year. Sigh. I enjoy cooking yet have felt the need to take a break as of late because I know I will be cooking more in the New Year…more healthy meals as a whole. So this is my break from cooking and it comes in the form of a Wreath Charcuterie Cheese Board…YUM!

If you are also taking a break from cooking or ramping up for more meal planning, putting together a charcuterie board is one of the easiest, quickest, and most delicious ways to feed family and friends. Maybe you are having a few loved ones over for New Years Eve…this would be a great way to keep it low key but keep everyone satisfied. Set out some plates, toothpicks or hors d’oeuvre forks, and napkins and you are all set.

Here’s what I included on this Wreath Charcuterie Cheese Board:

  • cheese cubes (select a variety of mild and sharp cheeses)
  • cashews and macadamia nuts
  • banana peppers
  • artichoke hearts
  • pepperoni
  • fig jam
  • dried apricots
  • plain bagel chips

Get as creative as you’d like with your charcuterie board…anything goes truly! Normally I add some fresh fruit to my boards but I kept it on the savory side and allowed the fig jam and dried apricots provide a touch of sweet.

Hope you all have a wonderful start to the New Year! I encourage you to manifest all of the things that you want to happen in 2021 and work towards your goals. Cheers to you, cheers to yours, and cheers to a year ahead that will shine bright for each and every one of us!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by! See you back here real soon!

This years Buffalo Plaid Thanksgiving Tablescape is one of my favorite fall tablescapes to date. I’ve discovered a new love for black and white buffalo plaid…it has started showing up in different ways throughout our home and I love how southern and homey buffalo plaid makes things feel.

This years tablescape was inspired by family, by home, and by daily comforts. I wanted to create an inviting table that exudes warmth and coziness…one that says come as you are…you are loved and welcomed here.

This year I have nested at home more than ever, as I’m sure many of you have, and I’ve spent a lot of time finding pieces that cozy up our home even more. When shopping in Kirkland’s for a few harvest decor pieces, I discovered that they had these gorgeous brushed buffalo plaid plates and buffalo plaid napkins. Of course my tablescape creative wheels started turning and I knew that I had to incorporate these buffalo plaid plates, napkins, and runner into this years table.

As many of you know, I also love mixing prints as well! I discovered these leopard print plates while shopping on Ballard Designs’ website and knew immediately that they would be the perfect compliment to the buffalo plaid plates that I picked up from Kirkland’s. I just love how this combination turned out.

To add a bit of a more rustic feel to this table, I used these wood chargers which I’ve used in many tablescapes before. They are truly some of my favorite chargers to set the stage for a beautiful table.

These wood candlesticks come as a set and they vary in sizes…they are beautiful, a bit rustic, and will be the perfect compliment to your cozy tablescape as well. I decided to go with black taper candles to pull out the black from the buffalo plaid and I love the rich warm feel that they lend to this table.

I also used this gold vase to display a beautiful assortment of fall flowers. Greenery and flowers go a long way when decorating your table.

I hope you will be inspired to create your own beautiful cozy welcoming table this Thanksgiving. We all have so much to be thankful for…remember to count your blessings each and every day.

As always, thank you for stopping by…I’m always so happy to have you here. Stay tuned as well because I will be sharing a banana pumpkin chocolate chip bread, an apple cream cheese muffin, and an cream of turkey, mushroom, and potato soup very soon…all recipes that will be perfect to make this holiday season.
