This Halloween, I was inspired by our love of Star Wars. We started watching Star Wars as a family within the last several years and we’ve been big fans ever since! Some of the most mysterious and intriguing characters are from the Dark Side of the Force so this year, I decided to create a Darth Maul Halloween costume.

Darth Maul…also known as Maul is the son of Dathomir, a powerful Zabrak warrior, a disgraced Sith Lord, a feared criminal Lord and is seeking revenge against Obi-Wan…his arch nemesis.

Becoming Darth Maul was a lot of fun and allowed me to tap into the Dark Side of the Force. Although most days of the year I favor the Light Side of the Force and their hero characters, I like to tap into villainous characters for Halloween. What better way to celebrate spooky season!

For reference, I sourced my costume directly from www.SkyCostume.com. They offer high quality costumes…just be aware that it will take several weeks to arrive to you. I also shared a tutorial of how I did my make-up on Instagram. My colored contacts are from www.ColouredContacts.com.

Where has summer gone?! Time always passes quickly when you are having fun and we’ve truly been enjoying every bit of summer. We start back to school in early August so we are already starting to prepare by getting together our school supplies, backpacks, locker swag, etc.

Every couple of years, the kids get to pick out a new backpack, which is one of their favorite things to pick out for back to school. We’ve always loved Vera Bradley backpacks…their prints are colorful and fun, they are comfortable to carry, they are sturdy and they are made to last.

Today, I’m sharing a Vera Bradley backpack comparison guide in hopes of helping you select the right backpack for your student. Vera Bradley backpacks are excellent for anyone who enjoys carrying a backpack too…from school, to work, to travel…they are the perfect everyday companion.

I especially love carrying this backpack when running errands or shopping. It is comfortable to carry and big enough to fit all of your everyday essentials. 4. The Small Backpack in Performance Twill – this backpack comes in 3 solids and 4 prints and is made of water-repellant polyester. This backpack is also a great option for everyday use. Can you believe that Christmas is 6 days away?! We are counting down the days…Reins & Addison are getting more and more excited with each passing day! We are officially on Christmas break now and we are settling in for a lot of family time over the next couple of weeks!

Before settling in, I need to wrap up my Christmas shopping and finish getting everything wrapped! Have you finished all of your Christmas shopping and have you checked your list twice?! If you are anything like me, I shop right up until Christmas and although I have the majority of my shopping done, there are still a few to check off of my list.

This is when I lean on Walmart as my go-to destination for any last minute gifts! They have such a great selection and their prices are incredible! Not to mention, Walmart offers free shipping when you spend $35 or more…shipping is fast too and many items, especially if ordered today, will arrive before Christmas!

You may also be looking for a few things for yourself…maybe a last minute holiday outfit, a sweater to wear for a family gathering, or maybe you need a new winter jacket. Walmart has several great brands, some of my personal favorites, like Scoop, Time and Tru, and Free Assembly…all of which I am wearing in todays post.

Walmart knocked it out of the park this fall when it comes to chic, cozy, affordable pieces and I’m excited to shared many of my recent November Walmart fashion finds with you!

From awesome sets, to elevated sweaters, to a cozy pullover, high waisted jeans, great slouch booties, to a Moto jacket that can be dressed up or down, to the most gorgeous dresses…Walmart truly has every woman’s style, size, and budget in mind!

Let’s start with sets…this leopard print hoodie and matching joggers are so soft and perfect for lounging in. You can also wear this set out and about to run errands. Feel put together while keeping your comfort top of mind in this set. I also love this tie dye hoodie and pant set! For size reference, I am wearing a size small in the leopard hoodie and a size medium in the leopard joggers.

I could easily live in cozy comfy sweaters and pullovers throughout the fall/winter seasons. I love the colors of both this long cardigan and this cropped button front sweater. Not to mention, how cute is this animal print?! Neither of these sweaters itch either, which is a huge win in my book because I have sensitive skin. Now would be an excellent time to check some off of your holiday shopping list as well and these sweaters would make an excellent gift. For size reference, I am wearing a size small in both sweaters. I also love this sweater as well!

How comfy is this sherpa pullover?! Its nice and thick and can be worn with jeans or with leggings. If you live in a cold climate area, this pullover is a must and it comes in a variety of colors too! Not to mention, it is only $27 and I’m wearing a size medium!

Let’s talk about dresses! Walmart consistently impresses me with their gorgeous dresses…from the style, to the prints, to all of the colors…their dresses are some of my absolute favorites. They are great quality and are affordable too!

This gorgeous blue and orange dress is one of my favorites…I love the print and the style of this flowy dress that is sure to turn heads! It fits so well and is very classy looking…I’m so impressed with the quality for the price of this dress! I love it paired with this stunning faux suede Moto jacket and these faux suede scrunch booties. I’m wearing a small in the dress and the jacket. The boots run true to size.

How beautiful are the colors in the second dress?! I was immediately drawn to the purple and orange combination…big Clemson fan here! Truly…the colors are stunning and the dress is high quality as well. The wrap style is very flattering on all figures.

Finally this snake print dress is so fun to wear and I love the price on this one as well. The top half of the dress is shirt dress style with buttons and the hemline has a large flowy ruffle. The tie sash cinches your waist as well. I’m wearing a size small in this dress for reference.

Shopping for a great pair of jeans can be stressful and there have been many times where I have left a fitting room feeling frustrated. I often times find myself asking…will I find a pair that not only fits my curves, but also has the perfect amount of stretch, is the perfect length, has the right amount of distressing…and so on?! A lot of jeans are not made to fit all shapes and sizes but I’m here to tell you that Sophia jeans collection from Walmart does exactly that! They truly are made to fit all shapes and sizes.

Her denim is made to fit a woman’s curves while also slimming in all of the right places! Not to mention they are under $30 and are super comfortable. Sophia’s jean collection offers sizing from 0-22 in denim and from XS-XXXL in tops and jackets…talk about body positive inclusivity! I find that her denim also fits true to size so you can rest assured that when you order your normal size, they will fit!

The first pair I am wearing are truly some of my favorites…these are the skinny deconstructed mid-rise ankle jeans. It’s a medium wash with the perfect amount of distressing and they are so figure flattering! I paired these jeans with a bold candy apple red sleeveless body suit (under $20) and this gorgeous faux suede jacket…both are also from Sophia Vergara’s new fall collection! Plus these jeans are only $25, which is such a steal!

Take your jeans to the next level with these black coated jegging seamed high-waisted ankle jeans! They are priced under $23 and can easily be dressed up or down.

I paired these jeggings with a fun leopard print sleeveless mock neck body suit and the same chic and comfortable faux suede jacket! Throw on a pair of heels (or boots) and some fun jewelry and you have a polished chic look that is super affordable.

I’ve always heard that 40 is fabulous and I have to agree…it truly is…at least so far! As I write this, I’ve only been 40 for a hot minute but I knew before today even came that I was going to embrace my new age and look forward to a brand new decade ahead…a decade in my 40’s….WHOA, that just got real! Eeeekkk…I’m 40 y’all, WOW!

This year has been an eye opener in so many ways…life can change in a heart beat (as we all know), nothing is ever guaranteed, and life is so precious. I’m so very grateful for the life I have been blessed with, for the amazing family and friends that I have, and for my health and well being.

I cherish each and every day and I look forward to many more life experiences with family and friends in this brand new decade! I’m alive, well, happy, healthy and ready to take on this exciting new chapter of the book that God so lovingly wrote for me.

Margaritas have always been one of my favorite cocktails to enjoy, especially on hot summer days! From classic, to strawberry, to spicy…what’s not to enjoy when it comes to a fresh margarita?!

Most recently, I’ve been enjoying spicy jalapeño margaritas and decided to create a jalapeño mango margarita! It’s the perfect balance of spicy and sweet!

You’ll want to be sure to save this to your favorites or pin this to Pinterest for easy reference! You could also easily swap out the mango for peaches, pineapples, or strawberries and it would be just as delicious!

Jalapeño Mango Margarita

INGREDIENTS:

• 1.5-2 ounces of tequila
• 3-4 ounces of fresh mango juice
• .5-1 ounce of simple syrup *.5 ounces if you prefer it less sweet
• 1/4-1/2 cup of fresh mango *muddled or pureed
• 4-5 fresh jalapeños *more depending on how many you are serving
• fresh limes for juicing and for garnish
• granulated sugar
• chili powder
• ice

DIRECTIONS:

• The night before making these margaritas, cut a couple of jalapeños into slices and soak them in tequila over night.
• Pour some simple syrup onto a plate and some granulated sugar and chili powder (mixed) onto another plate. Dip your glasses in the simple syrup and then dip the glasses into the sugar/chili powder mixture. Set the glasses in a refrigerator.
• Muddle the jalapeños that have been soaked in tequila along with some fresh lime juice and the fresh mango.
• If you have a cocktail shaker, fill it with ice and then add the tequila, mango juice, simple syrup, muddled mixture, and more lime juice…then give it a shake, shake, shake…and another shake!
• Remove your glasses from the refrigerator, fill them with ice, and pour the shaken margarita mixture over the ice.
• Garnish with fresh jalapeño slices and a lime wedge.
• Cheers…ENJOY!

*Swap out mangos for peaches, pineapples, or strawberries…the combinations for this spicy jalapeño margarita are endless.

Today I’m excited to share how we turned a small unused patio space in our backyard into one of our favorite new spaces to sit and watch the sunset with new outdoor furniture and decor from Walmart!

I had a general idea of how I wanted this small space to look and once I began browsing outdoor furniture on Walmart’s DIY & DONE page, my vision started coming to life.

Immediately, I found myself gravitating towards these gorgeous Safavieh Mopani Outdoor Adirondack chairs with a natural finish. Not only are they affordable but they are excellent quality and look even more beautiful in person. They are all-weather chairs which makes them perfect for any and every outdoor space.

I also picked out this Safavieh outdoor area rug in a 5×8 size which adds not only visual interest with its geometric quatrefoil pattern but it also adds a neutral pop of color.

This small space was complete once adding in a concrete accent table, some Better Homes & Gardens planters & plant stands, as well as some beautiful flowers from Walmart’s garden center. We are so thrilled with how this space turned out!

Spring is around the corner and today I’m sharing some of my top spring trends from Walmart! Tie dye is one of the biggest trends this spring season…you will, if you haven’t already, see it everywhere. From calming blues, to bright bold hues, Walmart has a great selection of tie dye pieces.

I was personally draw to this lightweight blue and white tie dye sweater and this tie dye slip skirt. The sweater is perfect to wear now and wear well right into summer (think chilly nights) and this skirt can also be worn from now through summer. Swap out the sweater for a tee or tank and pair it with this slip skirt when the days are warmer.

I decided to wear sneakers (not from Walmart) with this look but you can easily dress this up as well with a great pair of nude heels like these.

For size reference, I’m wearing a size small in both the sweater and the slip skirt.

I love the tie dye print of the slip skirt so much that I also purchased the slip dress and its gorgeous! I paired the slip dress with this soft denim bomber jacket with red varsity stripes, these red sandals, and white sunglasses.

When the weather warms up, remove the bomber jacket and bare your sun kissed shoulders. This slip dress is perfect for date night, girls night, or an upcoming vacation!

For size reference, I’m wearing a small in both the dress and the bomber jacket…the sandals run true to size as well!

Some other spring trends included polka dots and floral prints. You all know how much I love prints, especially floral prints! I spotted this dot dress and immediately added it to my cart. It’s navy blue with white polka dots and has the cutest ruffle skirt. It’s also long sleeve so you can wear it now and wear it well into spring.

How fun is this vegan leather jacket too?! I love the bold red color…its fun, different, and will definitely bring a POP of color to many of your outfits. I also tied this look together with these red sandals and these adorable white framed sunglasses.
